Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's
top advisory body, condemned a US Congress resolution on the Falun
Gong cult in Beijing Thursday.
A
leading official of the Committee of Foreign Affairs under the
CPPCC National Committee said the act of the U.S. House of
Representatives was a wanton intervention in China's internal
affairs.
He
said all political parties, organizations and people of all circles
of China firmly supported the Chinese government's decision to ban
the Falun Gong cult, because it was for the sake of the Chinese
citizens' fundamental human rights and freedoms, aswell as the
solemnity of China's Constitution and laws.
He
said some U.S. Congressmen, while advocating "humanitarianism" and
"rule of law", have ignored enormous disasters caused by the Falun
Gong to many innocent Chinese people.
He
urged the Congressmen to get sincere understanding of the Falun
Gong's nature as an evil cult, and to stop backing and abetting the
Falun Gong.
They can but damage their own image if they continue to interfere
in China's internal affairs by using the Falun Gong issue, the
official said.
