Chinese director Feng Xiaogang |
Director Feng Xiaogang's upcoming film "Aftershocks", scheduled for release on July 28 across Asia, will be shown in North America simultaneously, reports the Oriental Morning Post.
It's yet to known whether it will be a wide release or not, the report said.
The first official trailer will be screened in Chinese and American IMAX cinemas in March.
"Aftershocks", formerly known as "Tangshan Earthquake", will be the first Chinese IMAX film. However, that made no difference to Feng Xiaogang.
"The shooting process is all the same," he said. "All I need to do is to provide a copy of the materials to the IMAX Corporation after the filming ended, and they will produce the IMAX version within a month."
The film is now under post-production, Feng revealed.
"Aftershocks", starring "Rush Hour 3" actress Zhang Jingchu, revolves around a quake survivor, who was only seven years old when a 7.8-magnitude earthquake flattened the city of Tangshan in Hebei province on July 28, 1976.
The quake, which killed at least 240,000 people and severely injured a further 164,000, is believed to be the deadliest earthquake of the 20th century.
