Photographers from Cuba, Italy and Chile won top places in the underwater photo competition of FOTOSUB Colony 2010 at the Cuban Isle of Youth, local media said Monday.
Marco Bollettinari from Italy won the category of "Fish," followed by Efren Guerra and Hector Sardinas, both from Cuba.
In the category of "Macro," the winner was Fernando Olivares from Chile. Cuba's Pedro Martinez and Hector Sardinas placed second and third, respectively.
In the category of "Environment without Model," the Cuban Jose Canibano won first place, followed by the Italian Marco Bollettinari and Hector Sardinas, also from Cuba.
The Cuban photographer Carlos Otero and Cuban model Mimi were the winners of the "Environment with Model" category, followed by Fernando Olivares and Hector Sardinas.
Around 100 people from some 10 nations, including competitors, models, executives, sponsors and journalists, attended the event.
FOTOSUB, one of the world's major underwater photography competitions, has been famous worldwide since the 1960s for accommodating those interested in this special kind of photography.
