The 12th Pyongyang International Film Festival will be held in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the official news agency KCNA reported.
According to the KCNA, there are "films contributed by dozens of countries" to be screened in the festival. It will involve contests in full-length feature films, documentary and short films and special and information shows as well as meetings for exchanging films.
The festival is an international event which "provides movie persons of several countries with an opportunity to swap their successes and experience gained in creating cinematic art and boost the exchange and cooperation in the idea of independence, peace and friendship," the report said.
The festival, which is scheduled to take place from Sept. 17 to 24, is the only film festival of the DPRK. It took place every other year from 1987.
