Actress Mantegna, 20, was named at a party held at Cecconi's restaurant in West Hollywood, Los Angeles by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association(HFPA), which holds the Golden Globe Awards.
"I am honored to be part of this wonderful tradition created by the HFPA," Mantegna said. "I have grown up watching the Golden Globes with my family and feel so fortunate to be part of such a magical evening so early in my career."
"We are thrilled to have Gia as this year' s Miss Golden Globe," said HFPA president Philip Berk. "She is just as talented as she is beautiful and will surely be a great addition to the show."
Born April 17, 1990, Mantegna made her debut in the 2003 film "Uncle Nino," starring Anne Archer, Trevor Morgan and her father Joe. She will star in the independent feature "Getting That Girl." She also appeared in the new TeenNick television series "Gigantic."
The senior Mantegna played Dean Martin in the 1998 HBO made-for-television movie "The Rat Pack," and won a Golden Globe nod for best supporting actor in a series, mini-series or made-for-television movie.
Chosen by the HFPA, Miss Golden Globe is traditionally the child of a well-known celebrity and assists during the Golden Globe Awards ceremony.
Previous Miss/Mister Golden Globe honorees include Rumer Willis -- daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, Laura Dern -- daughter of Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern, Tippi Hedren's daughter Melanie Griffith. Alfre Woodard and Roderick Spencer's daughter Mavis Spencer served as last year' s Miss Golden Globe.
The 68th annual Golden Globe nominations will be announced Tuesday, and the awards show will be held in the Beverly Hilton Hotel Jan. 16. The event will be hosted by Ricky Gervais.
