The London Book Fair, one of the three biggest book fairs in the world, will open on April 16 with a strong presence of Chinese culture.

China International Publishing Group (CIPG) is planning to showcase 972 titles – twice the number of the previous year – in 43 languages for the exhibition.

CIPG, established in October 1949, is China's leading publisher for international readers. The organization annually publishes over 2,000 book titles, 21 printed periodicals and 25 cyber journals in 20 languages in over 100 countries and regions around the world.

With 16 overseas branches, CIPG takes part in various international book fairs every year, such as the Frankfurt Book Fair, the London Book Fair and BookExpo America. It has become the leading Chinese publisher to exhibit and sell publications and copyrights at these events.

At present, CIPG is focusing on releasing books about contemporary China, Chinese culture, Chinese literature and Chinese medicine. Children's books and books on learning Chinese will also be presented at the London Book Fair.

CIPG will also host special events at the book fair including the release ceremony for Zhao Qizheng's new books, "Cross-border dialogue: The wisdom of Public Diplomacy(English edition)" and "Public Diplomacy and Intercultural Communication(English edition)," the release ceremony for "What Do You Know About the Communist Party of China?" in multiple languages, and a series of promotional activities for "Sailing Under The Sun."

In addition, a panel discussion on topics surrounding China's public diplomacy will feature panelists including Zhao Qizheng, press spokesman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Liu Binjie, president and Party chief of the General Administration of Press and Publication and president of the National Copyright Administration, and other renowned Chinese and foreign experts.

The London Book Fair was founded in 1971. Held annually, usually in April, the fair has grown in size and importance in recent years, with 23,000 publishers, booksellers, literary agents, librarians, media and industry suppliers from over 100 countries in attendance.
