Published in Chinese and English by the Foreign Languages Press under China International Publishing Group (CIPG), the photo album - Shared Memories of the U.S. and China: The Pacific War against Japanese Aggression -containsa wide selection of historical materials showing China and the United States fighting together against Japanese aggressors.

The materials, which include pictures and text, were provided by the Institute of Modern Chinese History under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Society of Historical Studies of China's War of Resistance against Japan, the Museum of the War of the Chinese People's Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and the National Archives of the United States.

As this year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the photo album will resonate with both American and Chinese readers, encourage them to reflect on war, and stimulate them to remember history and maintain peace, Zhang Qiyue, Chinese consul-general in New York, said at the launch ceremony.

The photo album was released to recall the glorious history in which China and the United States were firm allies in maintaining peace and justice, and call on the Chinese and American people to continue to work together for a bright future, said CIPG vice president Fang Zhenghui.

Huang Liping, executive director of the Yuezhong Museum of Historical Images, said he hoped that the book will stimulate people around the world to safeguard the gains from the victory in the Anti-Fascist War.

Robert Lawrence Kuhn, an expert on China studies, also praised the publication of the book, saying it was good for people to look back on history.

The BEA, one of the world's largest book gatherings, ran from May 27 to 30. The CIPG is China's largest foreign language publishing house. It displayed 865 titles at this year's BEA.
