Wang Yi, former vice president of state-run China Development Bank, stood trial Tuesday on charges of taking huge bribes at the Beijing No.1 Intermediate People's Court.
According to the No. 1 branch of the Beijing Municipal People's Procuratorate, from November 1999 to February 2008, Wang abused his post as the vice president of the bank to make profits for others and took bribes totaling 11.96 million yuan (about 1.76 million U.S. dollars) in return.
The court did not announce a sentence on Tuesday.
