Electronics giant Foxconn has closed a plant near Chennai in India following a toxic gas leak, Indian media reported Monday.
235 workers were hospitalized after inhaling pesticide fumes but all were discharged after receiving treatment.
An Indian official said the plant does not have any gas tanks, but the Tamil Nadu government has ordered it to remain closed until safety issues are resolved Workers will be transferred to the company's main plant at Sriperumbudur from Monday.
The Chennai plant, which makes mobile phone accessories, had been shut down for nine months, but reopened 23 days ago because of increased demand for its products.
