Chinese shares fell Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closing down 0.46 percent, or 13.27 points, to end at 2,898.14 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index declined 0.26 percent, or 33.68 points, to end at 12,795.68.
Total turnover fell to 215.9 billion yuan (32.39 billion U.S. dollars), down from 274.41 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Losers outnumbered winners 519 to 342 in Shanghai and winners outnumbered losers by 573 to 527 in Shenzhen.
