Avon Products Inc., a leading U.S.-based cosmetic company, has recently fired four executives over bribery cases in China.
Avon has started an internal investigation into corruption in a number of countries and found more evidence of possible illegal conducts during the probe. The Wall Street Journal quoted a source as saying that investigators discovered millions of dollars of questionable payments to government officials in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, India and Japan.
According to Bloomberg, Avon said in a regulatory filing that it had fired four executives on the ground of bribes in China, including offering illegal business and entertainment expenses to Chinese officials.
The fired executives are its former head of global internal audit and security Ian Rossetter, former China CEO S.K. Kao, former China chief financial officer Jimmy Beh and former head of China corporate affairs C.Q. Sun.
