Shen Changfu, chairman and president of China Mobile's Chongqing branch, was tried Monday for taking bribes, Xinhua reported.
Shen, a former national legislator, is accused of accepting more than 36 million yuan ($5.7 million) in bribes between 1990 and 2010, according to the prosecutor.
The trial opened in Chongqing's No. 5 Intermediate People's Court. Shen's sentencing date has not yet been fixed.
Li Hua, the former chairman and general manager of the Sichuan branch of China Mobile, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve in August for accepting 16 million yuan (US$2.58 million) in bribes.
