Apple may choose Beijing's iconic Wangfujing Street as the site for its largest flagship Apple Store in Asia as part of the shopping district's ambitious expansion plan.
The Wangfujing store, if opened, would be the Culpertino, California-based tech giant third in Beijing and its largest in Asia.
Apple is one of a slate of international brands that Wangfujin Street aims to attract. Forever 21, the second largest clothing retailer in the United States, agreed to open a location in the district earlier this month.
District officials said 800,000 square meters of business space will be added to the street by 2015.
China's business press carried the story above on Monday.
