Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. has submitted its plan to establish a joint venture with Jaguar Land Rover to Chinese authorities and is awaiting approval, a Chery insider said.
Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover CEO, previously announced that the British luxury automaker plans to invest 100 million pounds in China to establish a new factory with 5,000 employees and an annual production of 50,000 cars.
"In the first 11 months [of 2011], Jaguar Land Rover's China sales reached 37,000 vehicles, including 5,100 Jaguar models and 32,000 Land Rover models," said the automaker's China senior sales manager Tom Bury at the Changsha International Auto Show this week.
China's business press carried the story above on Friday.
