The expansion project of a supply center for German automaker BMW has started construction in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, with a total investment of 270 million yuan (37.8 million U.S. dollars).
The groundbreaking ceremony of the project, which is the second phase of the Runbang Damei Automotive Supply Chain Industrial Park, was held on July 31 in the China-Germany Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park in Shenyang.
The project covers an area of 80,000 square meters and features a planned floor area of 49,000 square meters.
Once the project is completed, it will be capable of offering services related to pre-production, post-production and export of auto parts, according to a manager at Runbang Damei Logistics, the company that owns the project.
With processing, warehousing and logistics auxiliary facilities included, this project will be utilized for auto parts' receiving, sending, processing, packaging, warehousing, transporting, logistics information and other services.
In 2020, the first phase of the supply center opened for operation, with its services guaranteeing the production activities of BMW, effectively improving auto parts' support capacity in the area and boosting regional economic growth.
