British vlogger Jason Lightfoot (L), Brazilian vlogger Cymye (C), and Mexican vlogger Max Carrera try out the dexterous hand technology at Shenzhen High Great Technology Co. Ltd.

Nearly 10 foreign vloggers and young people from countries including Mexico, the U.K., Brazil, Indonesia, and Malaysia gathered in Shenzhen between Nov. 14 and 15 to delve deep into the technology landscape of “the Silicon Valley of China.”

They visited enterprises, experienced products, exchanged ideas and attended the ongoing 26th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF), immersing themselves in the charm of Shenzhen’s technological innovation.

At Shenzhen High Great Technology Co. Ltd., 100 drones ascended gracefully into the sky, dancing and weaving different patterns, showcasing China’s leading technology in the field of intelligent drones. In the company’s exhibition hall, some vloggers tried operating drones through various obstacles on their own.

Max Carrera, a vlogger from Mexico, was amazed by the spectacular drone performance. “It’s amazing that you have 100 drones flying at the same time, synchronized with music and lights, all dancing at the same time and creating amazing shapes,” he said. According to him, this was not only a visual feast but also a vivid demonstration of Shenzhen’s technological innovation strength.

Puta Faradiba, an Indonesian currently studying at Huaqiao University, hoped that her country could also have such magnificent drone performances after watching the drone show.

“It was very cool. Back in Indonesia, I’ve never seen such a drone show. I was actually looking forward to having it in my own country maybe one day,” she said excitedly.

The foreign vloggers also visited APT Mobile SatCom Ltd., where they learned about China’s first self-developed Ku-band high-throughput communication satellite, “Shenzhen Star” (APSTAR-6D). With its high communication capacity, the satellite provides reliable communication services to tens of thousands of terminals, including aircraft, ships, offshore drilling platforms, and emergency vehicles.

“You just need three satellites to cover the entire planet. That’s insane to think of. And they make them here,” Carrera said.

Additionally, the vloggers visited the well-known Shenzhen tech company Insta360. As a beloved panoramic camera brand, Insta360’s products have a massive global fan base. During the experience session, the foreign vloggers tried out various VR panoramic cameras, sports cameras, and consumer-grade panoramic cameras. They noted that these innovative products offer more possibilities for people to record and share their lives.

Cymye, a vlogger from Brazil, was full of praise for Insta360’s products. “I really like Insta360’s products. You can record everything with these cameras and then shoot according to your preferences.”

At Oceanpayment, the vloggers also learned about digital payment technology that simplifies global payments, expressing admiration for China’s innovation in the field of financial technology.

Malaysian student Emily Low (2nd L) admires products on display at the 26th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF).

Cutting-edge technology showcased at the CHTF was an eye-opener for the visiting group. From smart hardware to next-generation technology, innovative achievements from around the world converge at the fair.

Jason Lightfoot, a vlogger from the U.K., said it is gratifying to see that over the past few decades, many Chinese brands have gone from primarily manufacturing for Western brands to now standing shoulder to shoulder with Western brands and in some cases even surpassing many of their Western counterparts.

“I always love coming to the city. It’s really like a place out of a science fiction movie,” he said.

After gaining a deep understanding of Shenzhen’s technological innovation ecosystem, the foreign vloggers agreed that Shenzhen’s speed, vitality, and innovative capacity left a profound impression on them.

“I think that this is where the future will develop, not only for China but for the rest of the world. I feel like Shenzhen is a city for dreamers, for entrepreneurs, for people who aspire for a better world,” Carrera said.

Cymye added, “In Shenzhen, there are not only many tech companies, but we also see how technology is integrated into daily life. For example, in Shenzhen, you can pay by scanning your palm or your face. Everything happens so fast here.”
