Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co said Friday it will recall 818 imported Lexus cars from June 21 due to a faulty steering system.
The recall affects Lexus LS460L and LS600hL models produced from August 2009 to May 2010, said a statement on the website of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ), China's quality watchdog.
The car maker said it will replace the electronic control units (ECU) in the affected cars.
Owners can contact Toyota on a hotline number, 400-810-2772, or contact the GAQSIQ.
Toyota also began a recall of 4,509 Lexus cars in Japan Friday for the same problem.
The auto maker has recalled over 8 million cars worldwide for safety problems since late 2009, exceeding its 2009 global vehicle sales of 6.98 million.
