Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co. will recall 134,234 vehicles beginning November 15 due to a flawed design that could affect brake function, China's quality watchdog said Thursday.
The recalled vehicles included 71,840 CROWN series sedans manufactured between Feb. 21, 2005, and Dec. 31, 2006, and 62,394 REIZ series sedans manufactured between Oct. 18, 2005, and Dec. 31, 2006, according to a statement on the website of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ).
The faulty design could cause the brake calipers to rust and affect normal brake function, the statement warned.
The automaker said it would repair the flaws at no charge, according to the statement.
