The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) started a fresh military exercise Monday in central China's Henan Province.
Feng Zhaoju, director of the exercise, said the drill was aimed to proof-test the joint command, operation and logistical support of the army.
The army was seeking innovation in joint command, information collection and combat coordination through the exercise, said Xu Jingnian, commander of a group army of the Jinan Military Area Command.
The drill includes two phases: battle preparation and battle implementation. It involves about 10,000 soldiers and officers from army and air force and more than 50 kinds of equipment.
