Twenty-six people were hospitalized after they ate food at a delicatessen Saturday in Shanghai, local authority said.
A total of 26 people were sent to Pudong District People's Hospital Saturday after they ate food at "Zhibin Delicatessen" in Pudong District. They have shown symptoms of nauseation, vomiting and rapid heartbeat, a Pudong District health department official said.
They were diagnosed with nitrite poisoning, according to the hospital.
One person died in the hospital and 10 people are still receiving treatment there. Those with light symptoms have left hospital, the official said.
The owner of the delicatessen has been detailed by police.
