A Chinese court on Tuesday sentenced four men to jail terms of up to 15 years over producing or selling fake Chinese currency.
Chen Yinzi was sentenced to 15 years in prison with a fine of 300,000 yuan (43,930 U.S. dollars) for counterfeiting along with others, according to the verdict handed down by the Municipal Intermediate People's Court of Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province.
Ma Zhihua, Liu Mingli and Li Gui, convicted of illegal trading or transporting fake money, got jail terms of two years, 18 months and 14 months respectively with fines of 30,000 yuan or 20,000 yuan.
Police captured the four men after confiscating 43 boxes of counterfeit banknotes with the total face value of 15.96 million yuan in a rented house in Zengcheng City of Guangzhou last November.
