The death toll in Monday's landslide in Myanmar near its border with southwest China's Yunnan Province rose to 15 Wednesday after rescuers recovered the two remaining bodies.
The dead were all Chinese nationals. They worked at a mine in Myitkyina, Myanmar, about 3 km from the China-Myanmar border, said Bi Lei, a spokeswoman with the city government in Baoshan, Yunnan.
She said five Chinese workers injured in the landslide were taken to Tengchong People's Hospital in Baoshan City Tuesday. They are in a stable condition.
Myanmar asked for China's help in rescuing the workers after the accident happened at 4:50 p.m. Monday, she added.
More than 140 Chinese rescue personnel with rescue machinery took part in the rescue operations, she said.
