China's Ministry of Public Security has sent 18 teams to different areas of the country to supervise the security work in and around local schools and kindergartens.
According to a statement released Friday by the ministry, local police departments are ordered to cooperate with schools and communities to patrol areas around schools and kindergartens, especially when students are going to or leaving school.
At the Siming District of southeastern Xiamen City, school officials, police and community security workers are working together to keep guard at school gates when students enter.
Meanwhile, at the city of Jinchang in Northwest China's Gansu Province, local police have sent 152 security guards to be stationed inside schools and kindergartens.
Similar measures have also been taken in Beijing, Shandong, Hubei and Shanghai, among other regions, after the recent school attacks.
The worst case occurred in Nanping City, Fujian Province, when a man killed eight elementary school children in March.
