The Macao Red Cross on Tuesday said that 58 students and six teachers from southwest China's quake-stricken Sichuan Province will visit Macao Wednesday under an exchange program organized by the charity.
The students and teachers come from Mianyang and Zigong cities, and they all study and work at local schools that were built with the funds from the Macao Red Cross after the Magnitude-8.0 earthquake pounded the region in May 2008.
During the four-day exchange activities, the students and teachers will meet and communicate with students from three local schools and visit the headquarters of the Macao Red Cross and local landmarks such as the Ruins of St. Paul's, according to the charity.
The Macao Red Cross said the activity was supported by the government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), and the students were of excellent academic performances but from economically-disadvantaged families.
The charity also said that it hopes that the exchange activities will help strengthen the communications between students of the two places.
