China's top work safety authority said Wednesday that it would issue a list of companies eligible to produce aerial fireworks in the country in a bid to curb more fireworks accidents.
The list is to be jointly issued by the State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS) and the Ministry of Public Security, said SAWS deputy chief Sun Huashan during a national fireworks safety video conference held in Beijing.
Sun did not say when the list would be made public.
Further, companies not on the list would be banned from production of aerial fireworks. Companies are also prohibited from selling such products to individuals.
Sun added that the country has faced tough safety challenges from fireworks production during the first 10 months of this year. Three incidents that happened in succession in mid-October this year left 10 people dead in Sichuan, Chongqing and Jiangxi.
