An official in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province jumped out of a building Saturday night when being questioned about graft, local authorities said Thursday.
In an apparent suicide attempt, Xu Tao, director of the construction bureau of Longjiang County, Qiqiharer City, jumped out of a window on the fourth floor of a hotel, city government officials told Xinhua.
Xu suffered injuries and was taken to hospital. His spine and legs were badly hurt but he is in a stable condition.
Provincial audit administrators have discovered economic problems relating to real estate development projects in Longjiang.
