Five people were killed in a fire at a company dormitory in southwest China's Guizhou Province early Wednesday morning, local fire fighters said.

The fire broke out at a dormitory of Chengguan Township Salt Company in Qianxi County at about 5:30 a.m..

Fire fighters rescued four people but found five dead after the fire was brought under control following more than one hour of extinguishing efforts.

The cause of the accident is under investigation while the losses are being counted.
