Five people on a motor tricycle died Tuesday when their vehicle collided with a bus in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, local police said.
According to a statement from the Public Security Bureau of Baise City, the accident happened at about 6 p.m. on the Tiandong County section of the National Road 324, which links the five provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan in southern China.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
Tuesday is the last day of the Chinese Spring Festival holiday. It is also the day when road traffic peaked as people rush back to work after the holidays.
Separately, 49 passengers, including a child onboard a long distance bus, were injured on Tuesday afternoon after the bus veered off the expressway in northwest China Shaanxi Province.
