Ten people were trapped underground in a coal mine Saturday in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Initial investigation shows that the accident was a coal and gas outburst at 1:08 p.m. Saturday in the provincial capital Urumqi, said a spokesman of the region's coal mine safety supervision bureau.
