An exhibition on Tibet's history is now on display at the Beijing Cultural Palace of Nationalities. The Tibet Autonomous Region is situated in the southwestern border area of the People's Republic of China. After the peaceful liberation of Tibet in 1951, especially after the reform and opening up policy was introduced into China in 1978, China has made great efforts to improve the livelihood of Tibetan people and boost local economic, political, cultural, ecological and social developments in Tibet.
