An exhibition on Tibet's history is now on display at the Beijing Cultural Palace of Nationalities. After the peaceful liberation of Tibet in 1951, especially after the reform and opening up policy was introduced into China in 1978, the central and local governments have made a great effort to improve the livelihood of Tibetan people and boost local economic, political, cultural, ecological and social developments in Tibet. The central government has pledged "leapfrog development" and "lasting stability" in Tibet in the coming decade. [Photo: Hu Di / China.org.cn]
