2 killed, 38 injured after coach overturns in SW China

Two people died and 38 others were injured after a coach went off the road and overturned in the Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture of southwest China's Yunnan Province Tuesday morning, local authorities said.

The accident happened at about 8:30 a.m. on the 218 Provincial Highway in Shuangbai county when a 45-seat coach carrying 42 people ran off the road and overturned down the hillside, according to the prefecture's publicity department.

Nine seriously injured people were rushed to the prefecture's People's Hospital, and the other 29 injured have been admitted to a local hospital.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
