A police campaign that began in May has seen the arrest of 12,000 fugitive homicide suspects so far, the Ministry of Public Security said in a statement Saturday.
During the high-profile crackdown, 23,000 fugitives whose whereabouts had remained unknown to police for at least 10 years, were arrested, it said.
Police also apprehended 190 criminals on China's "most wanted" list, including Ji Siguang, a fugitive-turned TV actor famous for his role as an intelligence agent in Chinese TV hit "Lurk."
The ministry attributed part of its success to tip-offs from the public.More than 30,000 clues received from citizens had helped the police to track down 19,000 of the fugitives arrested, the statement said.
Police will continue their pursuit of suspects, according to the ministry.
