Ten people have been detained for their roles in a traffic accident that left two students dead and another 25 injured in central Henan province on Dec. 13, according to local police.
Shen Xuebin, president of the Gucheng Middle School, and another nine people responsible for the accident have been detained, local police said.
An overloaded bus collided with a truck at around 8:50 a.m. on Dec. 13, killing two students at the scene and leaving another 25 students and teachers injured.
The bus, rented by the Gucheng Middle School in the city of Zhumadian, rammed into a truck at a crossroads on its way to take students and teachers to participate in an experimental education activity at an experimental education base.
The bus driver, Zhou Guozhong, had already been detained, and Chen Xinfeng, the truck driver, is also in police custody for causing the accident.
According to police, the bus was designed to carry a maximum of 47 passengers but 66 were aboard when the accident occurred.
