China's Ministry of Railways (MOR) announced Thursday that it will beef up cooperation with the China Earthquake Administration (CEA) in its efforts to strengthen railway safety against earthquakes.
The MOR attaches great importance to earthquake prevention and disaster relief and strictly complies with technological requirements in the design, location, and quality supervision of railways, said a statement posted on the ministry's official website Thursday.
As the nation's top authority in charge of earthquake and disaster relief matters, the CEA is equipped with advanced technologies and has rich experience in dealing with earthquakes and making emergency response plans.
Minister of Railways Sheng Guangzu said that the cooperation will definitely further enhance security for high-speed railways.
The statement added that the two sides' concerted efforts will be conducive to enhancing earthquake prevention and disaster relief capabilities for the country's high-speed railways.
