Having grandparents attend your wedding is something most people take for granted; but for 25-year-old Fu Xuewei, who doesn't plan to get married anytime soon, the clock is ticking for her grandfather.
The single 25-year-old from Chengdu, southwest China's Sichuan Province, decided to take wedding photos with her beloved grandfather when he became very sick and she knew he always dreamed of seeing her in a wedding dress.
Fu posted the wedding photos on social media last Friday, displaying intimate photos of her in a wedding gown and her 87-year-old grandfather in a smart three-piece suit.
Fu's story has gone viral and moved many netizens to tears garnering over 4,200 comments and 20,000 likes. Thousands of people have expressed their admiration for her love and devotion towards her grandfather.
Fu's grandparents raised her from a young age ever since her parents divorced.
Her grandpa, Fu Qiquan, lived a frugal life but gave her everything she needed and spoiled her with love. When she grew up, she was able to study overseas and went on to start her own business with her grandparents' support.
Last September, her grandfather was once again hospitalized with a severe disease, a warning signal for Fu to make her wedding photography decision as soon as possible.
"I don't have any plan to get married yet. But I want my future partner and my child to remember my grandfather, the most important person in my life," the girl told local media Chengdu Economic Daily.
Fu's determination to remember her grandpa was so strong that, ahead of taking the wedding photos in December 2017, she tattooed her grandfather's portrait on her arm.
Ever since her grandpa's diagnosis Fu has also tried to spend most of her time with her grandparents, such as taking them on vacation and going to the cinema.
"She wanted to take the photos, so we went along with it. Her parents divorced at a young age, so I wanted to make it up for her," Fu's grandfather told Chengdu Economic Daily.
