A hospital in Hubei Province received a letter of thanks from Egypt on Thursday, in which an Egyptian father thanked medical workers in the hospital for taking care of his wife and premature daughter last year, Hubei Daily reported.
Last June, the man who is known by the name Amir was a foreign student in China when his pregnant wife came to visit him. On June 28, 2017, his wife showed signs of premature delivery because of bacterial infection. With the help of medical workers in this hospital, the premature infant was delivered at a gestational age of 25 weeks.
The baby weighed only 1.65 pounds with low body temperature and blood pressure. She was immediately transported into an incubator and put on a ventilator.
The pediatricians thought it might be hard to bring the baby back to life, considering her palm-sized body and weak breathing. Luckily, the baby finally came off the ventilator and gradually recovered under the great care of pediatricians and nurses.
Amir's wife and baby went back to Egypt in January. Along with the letter, Amir sent photos of his daughter, who has grown into a beautiful little girl on her first birthday.
