Positive images always ignored
Adjust font size:

I am a Buddhist and a Chinese Canadian who has lived in Canada for 23 years.

Yes, I can very much attest to the fact that many Western media are biased, not only now but also during the process of China's development.

Positive images of China and some other countries rarely appear in the media.

Does the Western media feel superior by psychologically attacking others through their "free" press?

I will make my own judgment about countries continually criticized by the biased Western media. I think many people have their own opinions about the unjust reports on China.

On the Lhasa riots, the Western media kept saying it was "cultural genocide". But where is the evidence?

Even in the biased Western media, we can see that Tibetans are dressed in their traditional clothes.

They also enjoy their own food and study their own language at schools. Tibetan monasteries and monks are respected, and people are seen praying and practicing their religion freely.

All 56 ethnic groups in China are well respected and treated.

It is really paradoxical that the Dalai Lama claims he does not seek independence but acts for a "Free Tibet".

Why does the Dalai Lama ignore the Chinese central government's invitation for talks and insists on demonstrations and violence?

Demonstrations and violence do not make things better unless the Dalai Lama's aim is to spoil the Olympic Games.

Chinese people are angry about such vicious schemes.

Please do not ruin "One World, One Dream".

If trying to snatch the Olympic torch by force, and trying to snuff it out by using a fire extinguisher - as happened in London under the world's eyes - can be described by the BBC as a "peaceful" demonstration, a "peaceful" expression of a political point of view, well, I wonder: What should be defined as a "violent" manifestation of political hatred against China? To throw a hand-grenade into the ranks of the torch bearers?

All television stations in the world have shown the violent aggressions of the followers of the Dalai Lama in Lhasa. Destruction of cars, shops. Beating of civilians. Burning of national flags.

The violent behavior of a handful of criminals with the aim to disrupt the Olympics - should be punished and condemned by the credible media.

No apologies in the future will be able to mend the damage done by the ridiculous and false comments being broadcast now.

History has taught us that it might be difficult but not impossible to take a close look at the current events. Up to few weeks ago, I was optimistic about being a part of the 2008 Olympics since it will be held in Beijing, my favorite city of residence in China.

Unfortunately, my enthusiasm for and anticipation of the Games has vanished into thin air due to the arrogance of the Western world in their attempt to link the tragic events that are taking place in Tibet to the 2008 Olympics.

Some have begun their devious campaign to boycott the Games. Their hidden motive is to destroy a golden opportunity for China to show to the whole world that it is a peaceful nation and it is capable of hosting an event as big as the Olympics.

I am certain that the world will come together to take part in this major event, regardless of the shallow attempts by the Western media.
