China on Tuesday refuted Japan's "China Security Report 2018" as irresponsible and untenable, and urged Japan to view China’s domestic and foreign policies objectively and rationally.
Senior Colonel Wu Qian, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, made the remarks on Tuesday night in a written statement in response to the "China Security Report 2018" published recently by Japan’s National Institute for Defense Studies, which, taking the China-US relations as the theme, assessed the development of China's military strength and commented on China's policies towards the US and on the South China Sea and other hot issues.
Spokesperson Wu said that China will unswervingly pursue the road of peaceful development and the win-win strategy of opening up, and China is always a builder of the world peace, a contributor to the global development and an upholder of the international order.
The related report of the think tank of Japan’s Ministry of Defense made improper comments on Chinese military's modernization construction and China's relations with other countries. Those comments are irresponsible and untenable, Wu stressed.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the China-Japan Peace and Friendship Treaty. We hope that Japan can view China’s domestic and foreign policies objectively and rationally, meet China halfway and effectively implement the will to improve China-Japan relations with policies and actions, Wu added.
