Relatives of the 13 miners who died in Sunday's coal mine collapse in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will receive 200,000 yuan (US$25,000) in compensation for each victim.

Most of the relatives are staying at a hotel in Fukang City where the coal mine is located, waiting for the compensation, a spokesman with the Fukang city government said Wednesday.

But the relatives of a few other victims from northwest China's Gansu Province are yet to be contacted, he said.

The collapse occurred at 3:10?PM on Sunday at the Guangyuan coal mine when 14 miners were working underground. The accident also left one miner seriously injured.

The mine managers were taken into custody.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation and the final conclusion is expected to be reached within two moths, the spokesman said.

The privately-owned Guangyuan coal mine has an output capacity of 30,000 tons of coal a year.
