Shenzhen will implement trial measures on dealing swiftly with
traffic accidents, and enforce compulsory auto insurance from
October, officials with the traffic police bureau said
Thursday.
For traffic accidents in which no person is killed or injured,
and vehicles suffer only slight damage, drivers can file a report
to confirm the accident and move the vehicles to places that will
not hinder traffic. The drivers can take the confirmation letters
to traffic accident rapid service centers for damage insurance
claims. If any controversy arises during the claim, the traffic
police will make the final decision.
The measures are being introduced to encourage drivers to leave
the scene of the accident quickly so as to prevent traffic jams
caused by minor accidents.
The vehicle accident confirmation letters are available with the
traffic police bureau, insurance companies and gas stations.
Meanwhile, compulsory auto insurance will be officially
implemented from Oct. 1. All car owners are required to buy the
premium - 1,050 yuan (133 U.S. dollars)for a car under six seats
with a coverage of 60,000 yuan (7,500 dollars), unless they have
already bought third-party liability insurance for their cars
before June 30.
A sign indicating that compulsory auto insurance has been
purchased should be stuck on the upper right corner of the
vehicle's front window, officials with the traffic police bureau
said.?
