Hong Kong Customs had cracked three goods-smuggling cases in a
month and arrested 22 men, Hong Kong Customs said?on
Friday.
During the crackdown, the Customs seized 29 million HK dollar (
US$3.7 million) worth of goods including electronic products and
optical discs, according to a statement from Hong Kong Customs.
A newly established anti-smuggling strategic action force was
responsible for the crackdown, said the statement, adding that it
pools resources from the Intelligence Bureau, Special Task Force
and Marine Enforcement Group.
The action force aims to strengthen Customs enforcement against
smuggling activities with a more strategic approach, and to mount
more effective intelligence-led operations.
