The main power grid in the northwestern China quake zone has been fully restored, the local grid company said Tuesday.
All repair work to Yushu Prefecture's main power grid had been completed by late Monday, and supplies were back to normal in Yushu town, said Wang Huaiming, general manager of Qinghai Electric Power Corporation.
The main task of the next phase was to repair the lines connecting the urban and suburban areas and resume the power supply to the remote countryside, Wang added.
The 7.1-magnitude quake, which claimed 2,046 lives as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, seriously devastated the prefecture's grid last Wednesday.
