Film on Nanjing Massacre Premieres

A film on the Nanjing Massacre, in which some 300,000 Chinese people were slaughtered by the Japanese army more than 60 years ago in the capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, premiered Saturday at the Massacre Memorial.

The protagonists of Purple Sun are young people of China, Russia and Japan during World War II, thereby disclosing the origin of the war and hatred -- fascism.

Director of the film Feng Xiaoning said Purple Sun was shot to remind people of history and to foil the attempts by Japanese right-wing forces to distort and cover up the truth of history.

A 19-year-old Japanese girl, who is studying in Beijing, plays one of the heroines in the film. She said she had come to know the historical facts and would tell her relatives and friends about the truth, and so help maintain friendly Sino-Japanese relations.
