Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji recently urged the whole country to leave no stone unturned in its work to guarantee sound economic growth while the world economy is undergoing an obvious slow-down.
Zhu, also member of the standing committee of the political bureau of the Communist Party of China's central committee, made the remark during his recent investigation tour of southwest China 's Guizhou province from August 13 to 17.
He asked the certain departments to create more market demand by increasing both investment and consumption, to encourage more exports, to further clean up the market and ensure fair competition of market players.
The premier also urged the departments to go further in improving performances of various state-owned enterprises, to hasten the improvement of the social security system, and to promote a sustained, fast and healthy development of the national economy.
During his stay in Guizhou, the premier reviewed works such as natural forest conservation, afforestation, a rural marsh gas project, a rain-water collection project, infrastructure, tourism resource exploitation and state-owned enterprise reform.
He also held several discussions on market order, reform of state-owned enterprises and social security system with local officials during his stay in Guizhou.
