More than 150 traffic administration and safety experts from China, the united States, Britain, Canada, Japan, and Singapore participated in the International Symposium on Increasing Traffic Safety and Preventing Traffic Accidents, which was held in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, Wednesday.

They agreed that the issue of road traffic safety has become increasingly serious along with the global economic development and social progress.

According to the meeting, some one million people were killed in road accidents annually around the world, with 25 million injured.

The World Health Organization warned that road accidents may cause even more casualties if no effective measures are taken.
