China's top legislature, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), will review 12 draft laws in its session scheduled from August 23 to 29.
The agenda for the seven-day NPC Standing Committee session was approved Friday by a meeting of the chairman and vice-chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee, which was presided over by NPC Standing Committee Chairman Li Peng.
The drafts on securities investment fund, supervision, administrative licenses, an explanation to the Criminal Law, and an amendment to the Grassland Law will be deliberated first at the coming session.
Seven draft laws on rural land contracts, water, surveying and mapping, environmental impacts assessment, traffic safety, promotion of private educational institutions, and insurance, which have been previously debated by lawmakers, will be further discussed at the week-long bi-monthly session.
The charter of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and a treaty with Laos on extradition will be submitted to the lawmakers for approval. A draft resolution to curb child trafficking, prostitution and pornography will also be tabled to the legislature during the meeting.
In addition, the legislators will discuss reports on protecting women?s rights, the implementation of national economic and social development plans and a food hygiene law.
