Nearly 100 young Russians and about 50 young Chinese took part in a one-day Sino-Russian Youth Forum held in Beijing Saturday.
The young people from all walks of life discussed a wide range of topics including the Russian-Chinese Treaty on Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation which Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed last July during Jiang's state visit to Russia.
Huang Danhua, a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of Communist Youth League of China and vice-president of the All-China Youth Federation, who addressed the group, described the document as "a milestone" landmark in Sino-Russian ties.
The theme of the forum was "China-Russia Long-lasting Friendship and the Youth" and Huang called on youth from both China and Russia not only to build and develop their own countries, but also to advance the China-Russia friendship for the future.
To further develop bilateral ties, Huang urged them to learn from each other, increase communication and promote mutual understanding, friendship and trust.
All agreed that the forum held at the beginning of this new century will further improve mutual understanding and form a solid foundation for the healthy and steady development of Chinese- Russian good neighborliness, friendship and cooperation.
The Russian youth delegation started its China tour on September 25 at the invitation of the All-China Youth Federation.
