Chinese President Jiang Zemin and his Kyrgyz counterpart, Askar Akayevich Akayev, on Saturday exchanged greetings on the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
China-Kyrgyzstan relations have registered healthy and stable growth since the two countries established diplomatic relations 10 years ago and fruitful results have been achieved, Jiang said in a congratulatory message to Akayev.
In bilateral affairs, the two countries have always treated each other with sincerity in accordance with the principle of mutual accommodation and trust, and supported each other on issues of common interest on the basis of mutual understanding, Jiang said.
Bilateral cooperation in economic, trade and transport areas have been expanding, he added.
Through mutual support and concerted efforts, the two countries have made positive contributions to the maintenance of regional peace and stability and the achievement of common prosperity, he said.
In his message to the Chinese president, Akayev expressed satisfaction with the constructive cooperative relations between the two countries covering a wide range of bilateral and international issues.
Akayev said the Chinese government has been steadfastly supporting the young Kyrgyz Republic in its efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and security and develop its economy.
He expressed the belief that continued efforts to raise the level of bilateral cooperation and foster the friendly partnership between the two countries are in keeping with the long-term and fundamental interests of both countries and are also in the interest of strengthening regional security and stability.
Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan and his Kyrgyz counterpart, Muratbek Sansyzbayevich Yimanaliyev, also exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion.
