China confident about further relations with Indonesia
China is fully confident about prospects for the further development of relations with Indonesia, Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji said Monday in Beijing.
Zhu made the remark when meeting with visiting Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri. Zhu recalled his visit to Indonesia in 2001, during which the two countries designated agriculture, energy and infrastructure as their key cooperative fields.
Chinese President Jiang Zemin held successful talks with Megawati on Sunday, Zhu said, adding that the Chinese government would follow the consensus reached by the two presidents and push forward bilateral cooperation in various fields.
China-Indonesia relations were now at their best since the re-establishment of their diplomatic relations, Zhu said, noting that China had a positive attitude towards mutually beneficial cooperation with Indonesia.
"The Chinese government encourages Chinese enterprises to expand their business in Indonesia and contribute to the economic revitalization of Indonesia," the Chinese premier said.
More cooperation in various fields
Megawati said that her large delegation, which was composed of many ministers and entrepreneurs, was aimed at promoting friendly relations with China in various fields.
She said her fruitful talks with Jiang had set the direction of future cooperation of the two countries. She expressed her wish that counterpart departments would make contacts to carry out the consensus as soon as possible.
Zhu and Megawati also exchanged views on agriculture, energy, infrastructure, science and technology as well as medicine. They reached consensus in many fields.
